Taking a Patient's Blood Pressure Lesson Plan:

- Part one of this medical procedure worksheet deals with brainstorming language surrounding taking a patient's blood pressure, pulse and temperature. Have the students complete this first task.

- In pairs or small groups try the discussion questions. Hopefully, that will draw out some of the key vocabulary needed for this medical procedure. Move around the class and assist students as needed. Once students are finished, verify answers as a whole-class discussion activity.

- Go over the medical vocabulary with the class and check understanding. Allow students to work in pairs first to discuss the meaning and then explain the words to the class as needed.

- Read the dialog aloud to the class. Students can just listen or listen and repeat. (I usually have them listen one time and then I read the dialog again for them to listen and repeat.)

- Have students practice the dialog in pairs and then ask several groups to perform the procedures in front of the class without the handouts.
